A large variety of pies with their unique warm comforting filling and equally flakey outer crust; definitely a place to check out if you’re ever in the state of Victoria, Australia.

While on our trip on the Great Ocean Road, which has spectacular views if you ever get the chance, one of our primary objectives was to visit Grandma Shields Bakery for their award winning meat pies. There are a variety of fillings at Grandma Shields Bakery; we tried a few of their variants of the meat pie, my favorite were definitely the original or the Chunky Steak and Mushroom. All were quite tasty with its tender meat filling and flakey crust. I can see why this is considered by some, their national dish. At the end, we had passed by another interesting food item, the Lamington. Basically a sponge cake that has been dipped in chocolate, to seal in the moisture, and dusted with dried coconut — also quite nice.
